Please note, tryouts will be open to players and evaluators only.

Parents are welcome to drop off players or wait in the gym lobby during tryouts.

General Tryout Info:

Registration is required to attend tryouts. Please register asap! Link here: Travel Basketball Registration Link
Held Sunday 9/18 through Thursday 9/22 with details below. Please note date, time, & school.
It is highly recommended for players to attend both sessions to give evaluators the most accurate view of the players’ ability.
SYBA cross-referenced the soccer practice schedule in trying to avoid mass conflicts and best accommodate the anticipated 200 student athletes trying out for Travel Basketball.
Tryout format will be consistent across grades:
- Drills showing skills around Dribbling/Passing/Lay Ups/Shooting/Athletic Profile
- Much of the tryout will be scrimmaging against various peers showing defense, anticipation, moving without the ball, rebounding, communication, effort & attitude.
Please have players bring water and a pumped basketball. Masks are optional.

Sunday 9/18 1 – 230 PM @ Finn

Thursday 9/23 6 – 730 PM @ Finn

4^th & 5^th Grade Girls:

Sunday 9/18 445 – 615 PM @ St Mark’s

Wednesday 9/21 6 – 730 PM @ Finn

5^th Grade Boys:

Sunday 9/18 245 – 415 PM @ Finn

Tuesday 9/20 6 – 730 PM @ Finn

6^th Grade Girls:

Sunday 9/18 1 – 230 PM @ Trottier

Wednesday 9/21 6 – 730 @ Trottier

6^th Grade Boys:

Monday 9/19 6 - 730 PM @ Trottier

7^th Grade Girls:

Sunday 9/18 430 – 6 PM @ Finn

Monday 9/19 730 – 9 PM @ Trottier

Evaluations & Team Construction:

The players are a assigned a number at random to wear during the two sessions.
A board member or SYBA coach, not connected to the grade, will lead the players through the session.
3 evaluators, also not connected to the grade, will assess the players skills, effort & attitude.
The evaluators will leave the 2^nd tryout with a consensus stack rank to submit to SYBA.
Tryout data from 2021 and end of year coaches evaluations will be referenced along with the 2022 tryout data for team construction.
Final rosters are all approved by SYBA. Following roster creation, SYBA Board will select Head Coaches.
